Loris Button
ABOUT THE CREATOR
Loris Button has created a map of Creswick but not just any map- it is a work of art for CresFest music lovers.
Her studio, close to town, is nestled into a garden full with grape vines hanging overhead, plums, pears, mulberries and veggie boxes. Her studio is lush with handmade paper, some of which she has grown the fibres to create, as well as collected papers and photos from her travels around the globe. There are special creations tucked into every draw and corner. Everything has a gentle and interesting story to it and this respect for the history of objects, cultures and nature is reflected into her work for CresFest and her art practice overall.
Loris has created a lino cut of many of Creswick’s historic buildings, which are transformed by her hand into the sweetest illustrations, and printed onto her considerable selection of papers. The beautiful papers, patterns and colours have been carefully chosen to match the history and colours of the buildings. These buildings were then cut out and collaged onto the hand drawn map. It is a calm & careful process that grows a little with each new addition.
SUSTAINABILITY: Our motto is to leave things better than how we found them and this includes the environment. We ask everyone attending the festival to remember their reusable bottles, bags and containers and to please use recycling and waste bins provided.
