Chris While and Julie Matthews are indisputably the UK’s best known and most hard-working musicians on the world folk roots scene. The multi-instrumentalists are renowned for their seamless harmonies and affinity for each other on stage.

Awarded the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards Best Duo, the 2018 Port Fairy Folk Festivals Artist of the Year, they are seasoned Festival tourers in the UK, Europe and Australia. To mark 25 years as a duo, Shrewsbury Folk Festival commissioned a celebratory ‘While & Matthews’ takeover in August 2019.
