Sanacori
Sanacori from Southern Italian idiom: heart healers.
Sanacori is a versatile and vibrant trio reinterpreting traditional songs from various regions of Italy and the Mediterranean. Tastefully combining traditional and contemporary elements to their performances with soulful singing and storytelling. Songs of love and longing, resistance and rebellion, with passion and cheekiness, elemental traits of Italian attitude and culture.
Sanacori was formed in 2016 to complement the work of the Melbourne School of Tarantella. The first school in Australia dedicated to Southern Italian Traditional dances, founded in 2011. Sanacori has performed at major Italian events across the country ( including Hobart Italia Festival; Mirboo North Italian Festa, La Fiera Myrtleford), multicultural and folk music festivals ( such as Djerriwarh Festival, The Village Festival, Brunswick Music Festival), and a great number of community festivals. In 2022 Sanacori curated and recorded the soundtrack for the theatrical adaptation of "Looking for Alibrandi" produced by the Malthouse Theatre in Melbourne, directed by Stephen Nicolazzo.
