Mugi Rahayu
Gamelan
Mugi Rahayu Gamelan play a fine selection of traditional Javanese gamelan music, and perform dances accompanied live by our gamelan ensemble. The music flows from meditative to dynamic, with our dancers providing grace and focus. Strong on rhythm, blending and harmonizing, creating a river of sound.
Mugi Rahayu was formed in 2006 by Aaron and his wife Nita. Aaron studied gamelan at the Yogyakarta Arts Institute and he enjoyed it so much he bought a set and shipped it back to Australia. Nita enjoyed Indonesian dancing since she was a kid. This year we have performed for International Women's day, Refugee week, harmony day, "Pride in the park", for SisterWorks in Bendigo and once in the Immigration museum, for Seniors expo, for the Illumin8 festival at the Great stupa, as a "Cushion concert" at the Capital and at the Old Goal in Russell Street.
