Maggie Carty, banjo player and singer from the West of Ireland moved to Australia in 2017 and has been performing here ever since. Maggie’s musical career began at a young age, born into a musical family spanning 4 generations; she has always had natural ease on stage. Recently, she has joined forces with Máirtín Staunton (Flute), Rhys Crimmin (Harmonica, Didgeridoo), Gerry McKeague (Guitar), Thomas Botting (Double Bass) & Bonnie Stewart (Percussion) to create a sensational festival style 6-piece band.Performing a mix of kick-ass traditional Irish tunes & soul stirring folk songs, The Maggie Carty band gives fresh perspective to a century spanning tradition, transporting you on a journey from New York dance halls of the 1920s to the modern day.
